Lauren-Michael Sellers, a 35-year-old from Birmingham, Alabama, channels her resilience and passion for others into her role on Team Reba in The Playoffs. A special education teacher and worship director, Lauren-Michael believes in recognizing her students’ exceptionalities, not disabilities, and finds immense fulfillment in leading worship, which has given her both a church family and renewed faith. The oldest of five siblings, she took on a motherly role early in life, especially after her family was separated when her mother lost custody during Lauren-Michael’s ninth-grade year. Writing became her escape, and a teacher’s observation that her journal entries resembled songs sparked her love for music. This newfound focus earned her a full scholarship to study voice and music composition. Now based in Nashville, she teaches special education, performs locally, and collaborates on songwriting projects whenever possible. Armed with advanced degrees and a deep commitment to her students and music, Lauren-Michael is a force of determination and creativity on The Voice stage.
