Artis Silvester finished ninth on Survivor: Philippines as the oldest contestant of the season. As a computer engineer from Louisiana, he was a cancer survivor who applied for the show 12 times before being cast. He was a loyal member of the Tandang Alliance until Michael Skupin's flip changed the game. Artis was the first casualty of Skupin's defection to the other side.
