Tom Buchanan

Tom Buchanan, known as 'Big Tom,' was a 48-year-old Goat and Cattle Farmer from Rich Valley, Virginia when he returned for Survivor: All-Stars after his fourth-place finish in Africa. An East Tennessee State University graduate who earned a full football scholarship and served as team captain, Tom worked on his family's farm that had been operated for three generations. His goofy personality and thick Southern accent made him a fan favorite, and he created a literacy program called 'Reading is The Key to Survival' after his struggles with spelling were highlighted on the show. On All-Stars, Tom aligned with Rob Mariano's Chapera Alliance but was blindsided at the final five on Day 36 when he tried to position himself as a swing vote.
