Dirk Been

Dirk Been was a 23-year-old dairy farmer and devout Christian who competed on Survivor: Borneo. With a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Seattle Pacific University, Dirk's outspoken religious beliefs and his habit of reading his Bible instead of working around camp caused friction with his tribemates. His drastic weight loss concerned his fellow castaways, and his lifestyle stirred conflict with the openly gay Richard Hatch. Dirk holds the distinction of being the first Survivor contestant whose elimination was directly caused by an alliance, voted out on Day 15.
