Drag Race All Stars

Drag Race All Stars is a reality competition show that showcases the talent and creativity of previous RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants as they compete to be crowned the ultimate Drag Superstar.

Overview

Drag Race All Stars is an electrifying spin-off of the highly acclaimed reality competition television series, RuPaul’s Drag Race. All Stars is currently in its 9th season and airs on Paramount+, with episodes every Friday during the season. RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars features a hand-picked selection of standout queens from previous seasons, inviting them back for a second chance to snatch the crown and earn the esteemed title of Drag Superstar.

Gameplay/Challenges

Similar to RuPaul’s Drag Race, the All Stars contestants compete in various challenges each episode in order to impress the judges and avoid elimination. These challenges can involve creating and performing in drag, showcasing other talents such as singing, dancing, or acting, or participating in mini-games or other activities.
The challenges are usually followed by a runway portion, where the contestants must showcase their fashion sense and creativity through their outfit choices. The judges then critique the contestants’ performances and decide who will be safe and who will be up for elimination. Generally, each episode ends with one queen being eliminated.

Lip Sync Assassin/"Rumocracy"/Eliminations

The Lip Sync Assassin component in Drag Race All Stars adds an exhilarating twist to the competition. Each week, the top-performing queen has the power to eliminate a fellow contestant if they win a Lip Sync against a surprise Lip Sync Assassin, a renowned drag performer from the show’s history. If the weekly top-performing All Star wins, they choose a lipstick with a bottom-performing queen’s name on it to send them home.

However, if the Lip Sync Assassin wins, the eliminated queen is decided by a vote from the “Rumocracy.” Prior to the Lip Sync battle, each All Star votes for one of the two bottom queens to be eliminated, and the bottom queen with the most votes against gets sent home in this scenario. The fate of the bottom contestants lies in the hands of both the top-performing queen, the Lip Sync Assassin, and the “Rumocracy.”

With the stakes higher than ever, the top finalists deliver breathtaking performances, showcasing their impeccable fashion, flawless makeup, and electrifying stage presence. The finale features show-stopping musical numbers, jaw-dropping lip sync battles, and emotional personal moments as the queens reflect on their journeys. In a dramatic climax, the ultimate winner is crowned as the reigning Drag Race All Stars champion, claiming the prestigious title and solidifying their status as a true drag superstar.

Prizes/The Fame Games

The prize for winning a maxi challenge typically includes a cash prize (usually $5,000) and other rewards, such as a supply of cosmetics or other products. Each week, the winner of the Maxi challenge also has a chance to win $10,000 by beating the Lip Sync Assassin. If the Assassin wins, the $10,000 tip gets rolled over to the next episode, until a week where the current All Stars beats the Assassin in a Lip Sync.

The winner of The Grand Finale will take home $200,000. New in Season 8 – Eliminated queens will participate in a fan-voted, online social media competition called the “Fame Games.” Eliminated queens’ runway looks will be featured each week and posted on socials, with All Stars fans voting on their favorite looks. At the end of the season, the “Queen of the Fame Games” will win a $50,000 cash prize.

Judges

The judges for the show are RuPaul, Michelle Visage, and a rotating panel of guest and celebrity judges, including Ross Mathews, Carson Kressley, and other celebrities.
