💔 Deal Or No Deal Winner Slams American Survivor

David Genat, fresh off his $5.8 million Deal Or No Deal Island victory, has delivered a brutal assessment of American Survivor, claiming the once-groundbreaking reality competition has lost its edge. The Australian Survivor champion didn’t mince words in a recent Parade interview when asked about potentially competing on Survivor’s upcoming 50th season.
“Look, and this is no disrespect. Actually, it is going to be disrespect,” Genat bluntly stated before criticizing the current format. The reality TV veteran, who has found success across multiple competitions, believes American Survivor has significantly declined from its glory days when it featured more intense physical challenges and strategic gameplay.
Genat didn’t hold back in his critique, stating “American Survivor is not what it was, in my opinion. If this was 20 years ago, that’s the game I want to play.” He added bluntly, “I don’t want to do puzzles with a bunch of dorks, man,” and complained that the show now features “just gamebots” instead of “real competition, real strategy, real physical strategy.”
The Deal Or No Deal Island winner made it clear he prefers his home country’s version, declaring “Australian Survivor is so superior in every way to that game” and dismissing any interest in Survivor 50 by stating, “I’ve won the harder, better version of the game and against the best players.”
His criticisms echo sentiments from other Survivor veterans, including original winner Richard Hatch who told TheThings in January that “Survivor’s producers have no responsibility to protect players from their own choices and risks.” Many longtime fans have noted that challenges have become increasingly puzzle-focused and repetitive, with a February 2025 analysis calling challenges “Survivor’s biggest weakness.”

🌹 Love Is Blind Season 8: Only One Couple Said “I Do”

Netflix’s popular dating experiment wrapped up its eighth season with just one successful marriage, as Taylor Haag and Daniel Hastings were the only couple to exchange vows at the altar. The Minneapolis-based pair revealed at the reunion that they’ve since purchased their first home together in the suburbs and Daniel even surprised viewers by showing off a new tattoo of Taylor’s eyes on his chest.
Other couples made it to their wedding day but ultimately chose different paths, with Virginia Miller walking away from Devin Buckley citing political differences and hidden financial issues. Sara Carton rejected Ben Mezzenga at the altar despite his offer to continue growing their relationship outside of marriage, though they briefly reconnected after filming before a surprising breakup.
Here’s where all the Season 8 couples stand now:
-
Taylor & Daniel: Married, bought a home together, still going strong
-
Virginia & Devin: Split at the altar amid trust issues over a $1,000 wedding gift check
-
Sara & Ben: Lived together briefly post-show before Ben unexpectedly ended things
-
Joey & Monica: Both said no at the altar; Monica later discovered Joey messaged another cast member
-
Dave & Lauren: Broke up before their wedding following rumors about Lauren’s pre-show relationship
The successful marriage rate continues to hover around 25% across the franchise, with season 8 falling below average with just one out of five engaged couples making it to marriage. This comes as the show prepares for its ninth season, which has reportedly already completed filming in Washington, D.C.
