Janu Tornell

Janu Tornell was a 39-year-old Vegas Showgirl from Las Vegas, Nevada when she competed on Survivor: Palau. A former Miss Nevada USA 1989 who earned her Bachelor's degree in Spanish from UNLV after 20 years of pursuing education, Janu was fluent in Spanish, Italian, French, and English. She made history as the first person ever sent to Exile Island when the twist was introduced, and had a spiritual revelation during her time there. Janu quit the game on Day 27 to save Stephenie LaGrossa from elimination, becoming the first person to voluntarily leave specifically to save another player. She holds the record for most challenge wins by any player who quit the game with 12, and her decision to stay on the jury set a precedent that was later applied to other quitters.
