Jolanda Jones was a 39-year-old Lawyer from Houston, Texas when she competed on Survivor: Palau. A graduate of the University of Houston and South Texas College of Law, Jolanda was a former track and field athlete who competed in the 1988 Olympic Trials in the heptathlon and once held the American indoor record in the pentathlon. She emerged as a strong leader on the Ulong tribe but her assertive personality rubbed some tribemates the wrong way. Jolanda was voted out first from Ulong on Day 5 after the tribe lost the first Immunity Challenge. She has since become a prominent politician, serving as a Texas State Representative for District 147 in the Houston area.
